London born, Bassett moved to Melbourne in 1888 as the orchestral librarian for Sir Frederick Cowen appearing at the Centennial Exhibition. 
He managed the music department at Cole’s for over 30 years.

Design: "W. BASSETT" in arc at top, "ROYALTY" in arc below.  Floral-style ornaments in corners.  Only seen in blue. The design is the same as Allan & Co.
